custom 3D Printed prosthetics in utah, nevada, wyoming, and idaho

3D printing is one of the most revolutionary prosthetics technologies of our time. The prosthetics industry was long overdue for an improvement in the process of fabricating a prosthesis. For decades, prosthetics have been fabricated by vacuum forming various materials over plaster models. This process is very time-consuming and costly. Hand-made prosthetic sockets create excessive waste, require countless man-hours, and can produce a finished product that is difficult, if not impossible to quantify and replicate.

Also known as “additive manufacturing,” the 3D printing process turns a whole object into thousands of tiny slices, then begins at the bottom and layers a selected material, slice by slice. Those tiny layers bond together to form a solid object. Each layer can be very complex and detailed. 3D printers can even create moving parts like hinges, doors and wheels as part of the same object.

Mobility Prosthetics is leading the way in the Intermountain Region with the implementation of 3D printing technology for the production of prosthetic sockets. At Mobility Prosthetics each prosthetic socket is 3D printed without a positive model. It can be printed out of various filaments, which offer a wide range of durability and rigidity. Because 3D printing does not utilize a plaster model or a pre-fabricated sheet of plastic, there is very little waste. Because a socket can be 3D printed overnight, the number of man-hours required to produce the prosthesis is dramatically reduced. Mobility Prosthetics truly gets things moving with 3D printing!

If you have not seen or tried wearing a 3D printed prosthesis following your above-knee leg amputation, below-knee leg amputation, or other medical procedure, you will be impressed by the precision, process, and product! You will be blown away by the types of prosthetic legs and other limbs we can create with this technology. We work with vascular surgeons, orthopedists, physiatrists, oncologists, endocrinologists, and physical therapists who share our passion and enthusiasm for this cutting-edge and life-changing prosthetics technology. We hope you’ll see and feel the difference every day.
